Donegal’s FinTech Hub Develops

Letterkenny designated Regional Growth Center in the National Planning Framework

How do you assess Donegal’s economy?

Donegal’s economy is performing strongly, and employment is on the rise. The county has a thriving fin-tech hub, and a significant FDI track record. 75% of investors are continuously growing their operations and Donegal’s indigenous companies are rapidly achieving global scale.

Letterkenny, Derry, and Strabane are part of a wider city region that form a main part of the northwest of Ireland’s economic axis. Letterkenny, Donegal’s largest town, has been designated as a Regional Growth Center in the National Planning Framework and has a large land bank ready to be developed.

How is Donegal improving the business ecosystem?

Donegal has a loyal and adaptable workforce, a public sector that works collaboratively to ensure company’s growing needs are met, and an attractive operational cost base. We have excellent digital connectivity, and substantial plans to improve transport links to Dublin.

Donegal is very proud of the close alignment between businesses and colleges. The Letterkenny Institute of Technology tailors its courses to ensure sufficient focus on the skills businesses need to develop their operations. This ability to adapt is a core competitiveness.

How is tourism in Donegal evolving?

Donegal was voted the ‘coolest place in the world to visit’ in 2017 by National Geographic Traveler. The Wild Atlantic Way’s northern route is less transited, and has plenty of capacity. We encourage visitors to come experience Donegal’s unspoiled natural beauty.

We invite our diaspora to engage with us at Connect Donegal, a ten day event between Sept. 27 and Oct. 6, 2019, which will showcase Donegal’s rugged beauty, food, culture, heritage, business and innovation. We aim to develop new and existing connections with so many of our cousins around the world.
